Ipanah's Diary 35:11:17

This will be a bit of a boring entry, only some of us almost died, not nearly all of us. Having satisfied Reom’s favor, we returned to Bespin to report in to the Family. Overlord had us come in for a debriefing and seemed satisfied with the results we had gotten. Doc gave him Cratala’s plans and we decided to let them handle all of the particulars for 50% of the profit. We told him we’re up for some more work, but we have an errand to run that we are still working out some details. He told us to let us know where we were heading and he may have something for us.

Valayne contacted her people and arranged to drop off Cratala on Rattatak. Overlord knew that the gladatorial pits there were always looking for new and interesting weapons. We could make a run up to see Duke Pittock again and buy a bunch of guns, we could sell them there for a nice profit. In the meantime I finally got to call Tena, she’s doing well, and was glad for the 5kcr I sent towards the ship. Valayne had gotten some message as well about a possible lead on her sister, some kind of medical video posted on DarkTube, apparently it had come from Bilbringi.

Knowing the Genosisans, we bought as much food as we could afford for them, and even found Pittock’s fruit. We installed a refrigeration unit into the smuggling compartment to bring it to him. We’re real life smugglers now! Okay, I guess technically we smuggled some stuff when we were working with Thrass, but he always tried to keep me on the outside of that part of the business. Maybe Oz as well, but he might have been in on it more, he doesn’t talk about it much. Gah! Bantha Feces! I should have asked Tena if she’d heard anything about Thrass. Maybe he’s made contact… oh well, next time I talk to her. Hopefully soon.

We flew up to see Pittock again. We sold the food for a decent profit. He was happy to see us again, and even happier when Doc presented him with that fruit. He gave us quite a discount on guns, we packed the Pintotl full. Good thing the company had given us credits, we spent 78kcr on guns! My ship was packin!

The next stop was Rattatak. We said our farewells to Cratala, then made contact with the company contact to sell the guns. He was impressed by the guns and bought them at a nice markup. After the deal he offered us a chance to enter the games on an individual basis for a chance at the 2000cr prize. Hussk was sorely tempted, but in the end we didn’t have time to just sit around and wait for the games to start. We returned to Bespin and turned in the gun money. We got our 5% of the profits plus a 500cr bonus for making such a good deal.

We agreed to head out to Bilbringi to investigate Valayne’s lead and asked Overlord if there was any work to be done out in that area. He could use some ship production information from the various facilities there and that we should take a Slicer along. Doc went to meet the new guy, a Bothan named Zird. Turns out he’s the guy that Valayne got the initial information from! He seems nice enough I guess. We’ll see what happens.

We fly over to Bilbringi and land on one of their orbital platforms. There were a few shenanigans, a trip or two planet-side, buying another gun, and we had the information that Zird was sent to get from the company. We had to plant a transmitter inside the complex to whitelist a signal for Zird to use. Hussk and Valayne track a good gun down planet-side, Oz modified the thing and we hovered outside range while Valayne made an incredible shot. The transmitter was going to miss the target, so she pulled out her other gun and shot the thing back on target! Unfortunately that ripped a hole in her suit and exposed her to the vacuum of space.

Hussk tried to grab her and missed, so I swung the ship around, popped open the bay door and scooped her back up. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to warn everyone and Vaxna happened to be in the bay at the time. She shot out as fast as Valayne came in. I had to loop around again to scoop up Vaxna before closing the doors and repressurizing everything. Doc says they should be fine. Vaxna wasn’t particularly happy afterwards though.

Zird also managed to dig up some more info on the video. We got more info out of the anonymous slicer. It had come from an Imperial medical ship called ‘The Ends Justifies’. Nice. Looks like they may have been doing all sorts of research. They left here two weeks ago, and Valayne’s sister had been alive at that time, even though her vitals had dropped for a few weeks before that. We asked around on the surface to find out some more… I got two invitations back to some shady guys’ apartments… I declined.

Other people had more success. Apparently around the time the ship was around here, the Imperials cracked down a bit and a number of missing persons happened. Could there be a connection? We debated how to go about tracking down the ship, without sacrificing a crew member, or trying to break into an Imperial stronghold. In the end, we decided to see if we could hunt down some Rebel contacts for information and perhaps an exchange of services.

We Lived!! We could still hear fighting coming from the rest of the base, so Hussk, Vaxna, Valane and Lamarto went to see if they could help. Oz, Cratala and I stayed to protect the ship.

Apparently they headed for the gallery and found a tech holding off a group of the invaders with a couple crates of gernades. They dealt with the problem and brought the unconscious, one armed tech back to the ship.

While they were doing that, Oz was patching up some holes from the repairs and upgrades happening to the ship, just in case we need to take off in a hurry. I started scanning through frequencies to find the base’s network to help out everyone else. I actually found an Imperial channel saying they were coming to investigate out of place blaster fire. We have incomming!

I loaded up the one armed tech while Oz probed around on that channel. They were using a old encryption code, so we could hear everything they said. Oz was even able to confuse their landing coordinates a bit to buy us some more time.

The rest of the crew had gotten into the company’s escape plan, a corvette class capital ship. Unfortunately it was still in need of some necessary repairs. Most of the sublight engines were offline, the Nav system, the turbolift, etc… all in bad shape. Ream’s people were scrambling like mad to get it operational. Oz, Cratala, and R2 rushed over to help.

That left me alone in my ship. My recent experiences in speeder bike repair led me to believe I wouldn’t be much help getting things going over there, and they had pilots. Plus, we couldn’t just leave the Pintotl here, I still owed Tena a pile for it yet. So I stayed and monitored the encroaching Imperial situation.

Twenty minutes or so later, the shuttle arrived with the ground forces. I warned the crew and shot out of that hangar like a mynock that munched on the wrong power cable. The TIE fighters were in hit pursuit and I pushed Pintotl as fast and hard as I could to stay ahead of them, but it couldn’t last.

Luckily it didn’t have to, soon after I took off, the corvette began its ascent. The TIE fighters went into disarray when it fired upon them. I circled back around to cover it and follow in its wake. It was in bad shape, there was a gaping hole and one of its engines was on fire.

Lamarto made the astrogation checks just as the patrol ships closed in. The got off a bunch of shots, tearing away chunks of the hull and knocked the ship off course. The blind jumped to escape, I left as well.

We met up again at the coordinates Ream gave us, a derilict looking freighter. He was happy to have escaped, and the crew had helped a lot to get the ship fixed and launched. He offered to fix up our ship again, install the guns, give it a custom paint job, and even offered to turn our one escape pod into a breech pod. We couldn’t quite find a need for a breech pod, so we talked him into some better armor for us all. He also installed an escape circuit into R2.

Ipanah's Diary 35:10:17

Where to begin? I know! Right where I left off! We rescued most of the survivors the the nasty jungle planet. They were packed on the ship like, something that gets packed very tightly in a container. Oz reported in that he had everyone secured and we left the planet not to far behind the Imperial Scout. We decided that it would be best for that ship not to get back to report what it found, but some of us were against outright killing them. So, we planned to disable the ship and force them to land. We know people can survive down there, we’ve got a hold full of them.

That did not go as planned. We went in, and flew circles around each other, they shot us and we made a pretty light show for them before decided we’d better get the heck out of there. They let us go. We made it to Troiken, the last world on the trade route, but the survivors thought it worlds better than our cargo hold after a week of traveling. We let them off, restocked, resupplied, and took of for our meeting with Ream on his salvage planet.

After a few minor astrogation navigation miscalculations we arrived at Raxus Prime. Apparently the Empire uses this place as it’s official scrapyard. And Ream’s company outpost is hidden somewhere on it. Terrific. We sat out far enough to watch the patrols and learn their pattern before attempting a run. While we were doing that, a ship dropped out and sent a message to the station before slamming directly into the planet.

Oz decoded the message and found it was a general announcement that the ship was from some corporation and was crashing here for salvage as per their contract. That seemed like a good way to get onto the planet without arousing to much suspicion, well except the slamming headlong into the planet part. Oz put together a message and R2 sent us toward the planet, just to make sure it looked like a droid was piloting the ship. Once we entered the atmosphere and got out of their sensor range, I pulled us out of the dive and gave us a bit of a bumpy landing on the trash covered surface.

This planet is the pits. It might be worse than Tatooine. It’s all garbage and toxic waste. I had to keep the ship low and weaving about the unstable piles of trash to stay off the station’s sensors, we had some closer brushes with the terrain than I’d like, but we made it mostly unscathed.

Ream’s outfit, Isotech, has a hidden base built into a mountain of wrecked starships. they contacted us and we told them we were the Sal’nalor crew with a delivery. They let us land behind their camouflage curtains. We were met by a welcoming crew who wondered who we were here to see exactly. We told them Ream himself, they took us to see Norma, a rodian who introduced himself as Isotech’s manager on Raxus Prime.

The boss couldn’t come see us, as he was swimming in a bacta tank after an attack on his offices at the Wheel by a rival company. Doc went to verify the story, and gave the okay. We turned over the records we had gotten from Cratala and told him about the survivors, except Cratala herself. He gave us 2,000 credit for the job and took us on the tour of his facilities. He offered the facilities services if there was anything we wanted while he saw to repairs to the ship, we got our second turret on order and we’ll probably swap out the twin laser for another quad. Assuming we can get a little more cash together.

Since it’ll take a few days, he offers to lend us a skiff to go out salvaging, they had some things they are looking for would buy from us if we found them. We went out two days, and were mostly successful in locating some of those items. Granted the first day cost us a cleaning bill, and day two we had to hide from some imperial probes scanning the area.

On day three, Norma said a trade group of Jawas had arrived and set up a bazar if we wanted to check out what they had. Hussk, Lamarto, and Oz went to see what they had. Apparently they had a bunch of Rodian’s disguised as Jawas and attacked the base.

The three of them alerted us to the situation back at the ship, just as a ship tore its way through the curtain and dropped of some more Rodians, Sullistans and two Trandoshans. One of which was the one we had run into at the Wheel. They were trying to get into my ship! We stopped them, and the ones at the bazar. Hussk captured the one Trandoshan for questioning.

Oz's Log

Well, that was the second closest we’ve come to all dying.

It started with Vaxna almost getting her leg eaten by a cybernexu (really cool cybernetics, but not worth trading a crewmate’s arm for). That led to meeting with Captain Harsol, which seemed like it might lead to all of us being murdered, and/or to Hussk killing and possibly eating him.

We were starting to make a little progress with the negotiations when the Imperials arrived.

This was the part where I almost got killed.

Hussk and I decided that the Pintotl could make a serious difference here, if we could convince Harsol to let us borrow his speeder bikes to go take a pilot and a gunner down there. He laughed at us, flat out laughed at us while under attack by an Imperial scout ship, and said none of the bikes have worked for years, and we were welcome to any of them we could make work.

Challenge accepted.

These things are way worse than I expected. I mean, serious junkyard. Given a week and some help from R2-FU, I could probably cobble three functional bikes out of the parts, but in the time the Imperials will take to get in here? On the other hand, I’m way more likely to succeed at this than to affect the outcome of this battle with my blaster pistol. So I find the one that looks the best, check the repulsors, get them set to go, and then climb up in the seat to make sure the throttle is connected.

For future reference: Make sure the throttle is off first.

The speeder bike takes off like a spooked mynock from a powered-up freighter.

I aimed for the house mostly because it was less of a fall than hitting the ground. Ipanah maybe could have bounced over the wall on purpose; I was lucky to stay alive. I made it a surprising distance through the woods, dodging trees in the general direction of the Pintotl, and actually made it to the river still approximately in control, with Ipanah shouting surprisingly useful advice over the commlink.

Repulsor fields distort water.

Again, Ipanah would have handled it with no problem. I bounced off, skidded across the water, and slammed into the shore. Lost the commlink somewhere in there, but i figure they still need me, so I get up and run. . . well, stagger-jog. . . my way to the Pintotl. Which turns out to be exchanging fire with stormtroopers.

Nothing for it. Deep breath and start the best sprint I can manage in my current condition, shouting for FU to open the ramp. I think I got shot twice on the way there — really glad I got armor after the last time I almost died — but I made it. FU starts taking us back to the rest of the crew, I start shooting at the stormtroopers from the turret. I was never in a million years going to hurt them, but they weren’t going to do anything to the Pintotl’s armor, either, so they ran off.

That was my near-death. I found out when I got back to the base that Valayne had taken some serious blaster-fire, Hussk was out cold underneath a pile of debris on the outside of the wall, Harsol lost his hand when his blaster blew up, and Ipanah. . . Ipanah tried to hotwire one of the other bikes (“If Oz can fly, then I can fix things”) and basically turned it into a fragmentation mine. While sitting on it.

On the other hand, no one had to be loaded onto a float pallet to get on board the ship. So like I said, only the second closest we’ve come to all dying.

To the rescue!

Those overgrown, cybernetically enhanced kitties packed a mean punch, Hussk found that out first hand. Luckily my ion blaster seemed quite effective against their enhancements. It wasn’t long before they turned tail and ran away. Hussk finished one of them off as it turned to run… then he ate part of it. I can’t say I wasn’t tempted to join him, killing it was unnecessary, but since it was dead, some part of me was sad to let it go to such a waste. That must be the ancestral Torgrutian hunting instincts kicking in.

We returned to the ship and filled in IT-3C with what we had found. He was startled by the creature’s head that we had brought for study, but confirmed our quarries from the video recording we had found. We set watch then and bedded down for the night.

First thing in the morning, we got an alert that we had visitors. A man approached from the river on the back of a large creature. two more of the creatures came laden with three old battle droids on each. Those two were being guided by Aqualish. The man was our Captain that we were looking for. Doc, Valayne and Vaxna went out and talked to him and he invited us back to his camp.

The creatures were slow, and the ride took forever to cross the river. Luckily I got to chat up our Aqualish driver before he said he had to concentrate and couldn’t talk anymore. We arrived at the survior’s camp and it was a nice camp… I guess. I’m not sure if I’d want to be hiding there for 20some years, but to each their own I suppose. Some of the people seemed a little unhappy with the Captain’s regime. It became more apparent when we were brought into the main building of the camp and everyone came in with us. It looked like it was going to be a big meeting, until Hussk started talking.

The captain and the cyberneticist took us aside and we tried to explain the state of the galaxy. They still seemed a little uncertain as to what they wanted to do. There was a lot of talking and trying to convince people that Cholgana wasn’t the safest place to live. Valyane offered to take the cyberneticicst back to her homeworld out in the middle of wild space, and they were trying to convince the captain that we could hook him up to the rebellion when the empire attacked.

It was an imperial scout ship, and it launched seven speeder bikes armed with a ridiculous arsenal. Oz took off in a speeder bike to get the ship without me. Good initiative on his part, but I probably would have been more help at his side. As is was the speeder bike troops fired repeatedly upon the defenders on the walls.

The leader of the troops tried to parlay… Hussk put an end to that quickly. The troopers did not take to his response kindly. It was a harrowing fight, and there wasn’t much I could do as they were out of range of anything I could have thrown at them if I had wanted. So, I tried to get one of the disabled speeder bikes running like Oz did. I did not have the same success that he had. I did figure out how to turn a speeder bike into a frag grenade though.

In the end, we held out long enough for Oz to reach the ship and come rescue us and the remaining survivors. We got both the captain and the cybertechnition, along with enough people to fill up the cargo holds. The imperial ship took off with a few of the troops and their wounded leader.

Investigations in the Jungle

We got a call from Ream’s sister telling us the droid would be arriving soon and where to pick it up. All of us marching around the corridor would have looked awful suspicious, so Doc, Valayne, and Hussk went to collect it while Vaxna, Oz and me stood guard over the ship. Nothing much happened around the ship, but the pick-up team must have had some excitement. They brought the droid back with a restraining bolt and were in a hurry to leave the station. So we headed out.

After a quick discussion, we decided upon the faster, slightly more tricky route of heading straight to Cholganna , instead of the longer trade route. Oz worked out a course with no problem… other than it dumped us right in the middle of a dust cloud inside the nebula. We were flying blind, and that’s when a big rock hit us! Luckily this crew has an ace pilot behind the controls and she was able to gracefully slip the ship between those asteroids like they weren’t even there. It wasn’t more than a few moments before we had cleared the asteroids and the dust cloud with the planet dead ahead. Oz did a great job of tweaking our sensors to account for that nebula as well. Valayne has the makings of a decent copilot as well.

We scanned the surface and found spots of debris scattered around. With our readings we narrowed it down to a 60km circle on the planet. Within that area we picked up a very intermittent beacon from an escape pod. It seemed like the best place to start. I set us down, and we all went out for a look. It was an escape pod that landed in a ravine. There were two skeletons outside and a lot of little green bugs with stingers at least a 1/4" long. They had made a nest inside the pod. Hussk lobbed a stun grenade right into the hatch and they all dropped. He finished them off while we investigated.

It turns out the pod had held three people who didn’t want to die for the captain’s greed. They also mentioned some lady named Pretalla who had been scheming against the chancellor. The third member of the pod’s crew didn’t fair any better than his companions. He was still sitting at the controls, it look like he died on impact. I guess he wasn’t as good of a pilot as he thought he was. We recovered the flight recorders, extracted their conversation from the main computer and headed back to the ship. The droid was happy that we found something.

With the data from the flight recorder we could pinpoint better where the actual ship came down. We searched along the possible corridor until we spotted the back third of the ship. It was actually kinda picturesque. It looks like their had been a river flowing over a cliff down into the major river valley of the planet. When the The Sa Nalaor crashed the back section had broken off and landed right on top of that river on the cliff edge. The water had pooled up behind it to make a little lake, and the river had worked its way through the ship and was now pouring out of the engine exhaust ports.

I found a place to land again. Oz and I stayed with the ship to keep an eye out while the others went searching. They found some kind of crude boat that had been used in the past few weeks. They didn’t want to expose themselves on the water like that, and getting around the lake would be treacherous, so they decided upon the safer option of jumping out of the space ship while I held it in place over the engine remains.

They repelled down the lines without to much trouble, except for Valayne. I had to save her before she tumbled off the cliff. It may have been a small bit my fault, but those wind gusts can be really strong and unpredictable. They spent the next three days searching around inside that engine, and didn’t turn up to much. Mainly they discovered that someone has been here fairly recently stripping the place out. They all came back with various bumps and bruises every day. Oz and I circled the area looking for the rest of the ship, it couldn’t have gone to far without it’s propulsion systems. We spotted something odd that could be it.

Once they had finished searching the engine, we headed over to the odd thing that we had found. It was big and metal, but we couldn’t get any kind of visual on it. I landed us in a perfect landing pad… and now that I write this, that seems odd. The place actually looked like it was regrowing from some kind of burn-out. Did they build a ship and take off?

Anyway, we trekked down to the place with the odd readings and found the rest of the ship. it seemed pretty deserted. There were the remains of a camp, but it looks like most of it had been carried off. I thought it would be logical to stay near the ship if you were hoping for rescue, of if you had to move then you would leave a note to let your rescuers know where you went. If you were going to do that, the logical place would naturally be on the bridge of the ship. So we made our way up there.

Along the way we had to go through a security room. Valayne found a vibroknife. Up on the bridge, we found the place gutted. No note either. I did however find a holoplayer in a sealed compartment. It played back what looked like the impact of the ship hitting the planet. The captain threw himself on a woman to protect her as they collided with the planet. I brought the disk along. While debating what to do next, we decided we should check the hold for anything that hadn’t been scavenged. This was supposed to be a legendary treasure ship after all. It was getting late, so we camped in the security room where were could seal the bulkhead doors around us.

Good thing to, during the night something attacked the one door. It dented the metal and nearly tore through the door. We decided to wait it out, and didn’t hear anything else during the night. There was nothing there in the morning, but a lot of scratch marks, deep in the metal. We found one of the cargo holds and discovered that most of the supply crates had been opened and emptied. There were quite a few secured crates in a locked cage.

Vaxna tried to get the cage door open, but the lock was being difficult. Hussk opened it quickly with his new genosian gun. Vaxna did get one of the crates open and it was filled with credit chips, probably around 50,000 credits worth. Unfortunately, they were all old republic credits, worthless. We decided it was time to get back to the ship. I wanted my bed again… somewhere farther away from big clawed critters…. like in orbit. We could fill in the droid on what we found and bring him along in the morning.

Unfortunately, as we approached the exit of the ship, three large creatures blocked out path. Nexu, cybernetically enhanced nexu. Crap.

Gun Runnin'

That was an odd couple of days, with Teemo off our backs and no missions coming in from the company, we had some free time on our hands. We debated for a little while what we should do. I wanted to (and still do) run some money over to Tena on Randon for another ship payment. We’ve gotta make another one soon, or she’s going to start wondering. Maybe I’ll have to give her a call before we set off on this latest endeavor. Anyway, the others thought we should work on our own personal contact list, and try to up our reputation a bit.

So, we headed off to Nar Shaddaa to look for some work. I took on a shipment of raw material that was heading that direction anyway, and unloaded it once we arrived to cover docking and gas fees. We spent some time looking around to see if we could find someone that wasn’t a fan of Teemo, and make contact with them. Our second day there we found an Abyssin name Seh’Ruka. He he is not a fan of Teemo, and needed some electronics run to the corporate sector. He mentioned something about avoiding the corporate sector’s checkpoints, so we arranged to meet with the buyer a little bit out of the way.

We arrived with only one minor mishap. There must have been a little bug in our astrogation system, as we landed a little close to a star with an asteroid field. I had to exercise a small amount of skill to steer us clear, but it wasn’t a major deal. We arrived at our spot a day later than we estimated, but we told the buyer to arrive two days later in case we ran into problems. We checked the ship for problems from our run in with the asteroid field, and the buyers arrived the next day. Hussk and Valayne tossed the crates across to the buyer, with only a minor cold weld incident. Our droid, R2FU (as Hussk has named it), cut it free and they sent it across. We then got payed, 20,000 credits!

We swung into the Corporate sector to make an appearance. We upgraded the engines on the ship and Oz picked up some better armor. The place was nice, and the stuff was high quality, but man did you ever pay for it. We also checked for work before heading out, but nothing justified the expense of buying the shipping license we would have needed. So we headed out.

The though occurred to us to see Duke Pittock again and pick up some more of his guns to sell around and see if we couldn’t make a few more credits along the way. We stopped back in at Nar Shaddaa since it was on the way to see if we could line up any interested buyers. We called Pittock and let him know we’d be dropping by and asked if there was anything we could pick up for him. He wanted food, a lot of basic stuff and some more exotic types he had been unable to find. Hussk found a buyer for the guns, so we picked up the basic food (no luck on the exotic stuff) and headed off to Genosis.

We sold him the food, and picked up a bunch of guns. Hussk and Vaylene each picked out one for themselves, the rest we sold to the buyer on Nar Shaddaa. It looks like we’ve officially become arms and food dealers. I thought this would now be an excellent chance to swing by Randon and drop some money off with Tena, and we got a call from the company.

Somone on the Wheel was calling in a favor, and we were being sent to handle it. Apparently they had a lead on the legendary treasure ship, the Sa Nalor. We were to meet with Ream, the president of Isotech, a salvage company. We docked on the Wheel and went to meet this guy. He was nice enough, he told us that he had received a distress probe from the ship that was nearly 20 years old and addressed to his father. Apparently the captain of the Sa Nalor was a friend of his father’s.

The ship was rumored to contain the last valuables of the Seperatists as the Republic hunted them down. It may contain piles of money, weird cybertech, and unknown other technological marvels. Ream wants that tech and any survivors, anything else we find we can keep. On top of that he’ll pay us 12,000 credits and even gave us 3,000 up front thanks to Valyane’s negotiations. The ship has crashed on a ‘middle-of-nowhere’ jungle, death planet that is only rarely visited by overly ambitions big game hunters called Cholganna.

He also said that new of the pod had escaped, so it’s best not to tell anyone anything and to watch out for spies. We would also be accompanied by an older droid that had belonged to his father and knew some of the crew members of the Sa Nalor. Hussk, and Valayne went to gather supplies and stories while Oz and me checked out the probe, and Vaxna scouted around for spies and tails we didn’t want. Now we’re just waiting for the droid to show up so we can ship out. I’m sure everything will go fine.

To many Hutts

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I don’t like this miserable dust rock. We got a plan all set out, Vaxna was going to sneak on board the ‘Lucky Guess’ while Doc and Oz went to talk to Wex and Orpa about getting a ride. Apparently Doc outdid himself on the negotiations and got us a ride for dirt cheap. Unfortunately, Vaxna did set off their ship’s alarm while trying to gain access, but we still got our ride. They told us to meet them at 9 in the morning.

In the morning we loaded up and headed to Teemo‘s palace. Oz sent off a message to confuse and hopefully draw out some of Teemo’s goons. There was a slight delay in landing, but we got there and let the unloading process go as normal. Vaxna then took out the turret guard, and the assault began. Valayne, Hussk and me hit the two guards and dropped them before they could sound the alarm. We moved into the cargo area and cleared out the servants that were working the loading bay. We then rushed the communications room, guns a blazing. I learned an important lesson about guns, don’t shot your own hand. It stings.

After we secured the communications center, Oz started slicing through their systems. The rest of us headed for the throne room to have our showdown. Hussk was looking forward to this, that Trandoshan that tied me up in my own ship was there, Kickface. Hussk started a fight at the bar that quickly spread. A Gand, or rather the Gand from the party last night stepped out from behind Teemo with one of those new Gnosian guns and started shooting. We tried to fight back, but between the Gand, Kickface, Teemo and his guards, the fight did not go particularly well. We all got out alive, but it was a real close thing. Hussk carted four of us out of the building on a hover cart. That single action on his part is what save our careers and lives, if you believe the rumors.

They decided to high-tail it back to Ryloth and the resistance. They helped us find a shady doc with some bacta tanks and we recovered a bit. We payed Wex and Orpah 2000 credits for their help at the palace, and payed off the doctor. Our ship fund took a hit but Vaxna donated some of her share to replenish it a bit. We learned that the Hutts had put an assassination order out on us for the attempted assassination of Teemo, which is ridiculous. We sent some of the information Oz got out of Teemo’s system to Duke Pittock and fixed relations with him. After that came the fun part, dealing with the Hutts. Pittock got us a better contact number for us to get information through to Jabba, he believed us and did what he would do with Teemo. He lifted the assassination order and made Teemo pay him much more. As such, Teemo couldn’t afford the Bounty on our heads and had to take it down. So, for the time being, Teemo has been dealt with.

I’m trying to think of what lessons I should take away from this little escapade, other than Teemo is a jerk. Looking back, there was a fair amount of violence, I may need to work on my marksmanship a little. After all, if I can stun the people that are trying to kill us better, some of the others of our group won’t need to kill them quite so much. It’s for their own good. Who should I ask for some pointers though, Hussk? Vaxna? Valyne? Other than that… I’ll have to see if Oz did record that assault on Teemo’s palace and review those vids. We didn’t have much of a plan going in, and I can’t help but feel that things may have gone smoother if we had. The trouble is, I don’t know that anyone in this group is all that well suited for tactics and such. I may just have to take on the role of mastermind…

Rival Hives

Lesson one, never take a Trandoshan to a fancy party. We spent a few days in Newmeen making sure the miners got settled into their new buildings, then we hauled a load of ryll and Bu’ra’bon back to Nabot. When we got close we could see all sorts of ships landing and unloading, it was shopping time! Before we could get to far though, Vaxana spotted someone watching us, a Kubaz. Oz suggested killing him.

We wandered about the market place for a little while, I got a shiny new ionization blaster and modded up my stun gun for longer range! Now we’ll be ready for anything! Hussk unloaded those nasty pelts, while he and Valayne upgraded their guns as well. Bu’ra’bon took us back to see Myn afterwards and she was happy to see us. She had another surprise, a Bothan by the name of Othar had come to see us. He revealed that Teemo had put out a 50,000 credit bounty on us on the big time bounty hunter network! 50,000 credits! Because he stole our ship and then tried to kill us repeatedly! He should be the one with the bounty on his head! Jerk.

Anyway, Othar had a plan to get us out from under the bounty, and maybe even get that money ourselves. I’m sure he’s no fan of Teemo, who could be? But, this seems a little suspicious to me. On the other hand… VENGEANCE! We need to set an example, show what happens to people who mess with other people’s ships. Hopefully without killing him. Othar said something about disgracing him completely, and doing that may be a fate worse than death among the Hutts.

In short his plan is to mess in the affairs of the Geonosians that Teemo is trying to partner with to get guns. A Duke Dimoc, a rival of Pittock. Othar wants us to find out why Pittock backed out of his dealings and convince Dimoc to do the same. Pittock is throwing a party to celebrate the opening of a new cantina, and he invited Othar’s representatives to do a little dealing.

We talked with Myn a bit after Othar left and she seems to trust the guy. We told her a little about what was going on and she had a cover for us that we needed to cover our cover of being Othar’s arms dealers covering the fact that we are actually wanted bounties. So, we headed for the party with some nasty foodstuffs that Geonosians are always importing. Pretending to being arms dealers pretending to being food dealers we walked into Pittock’s new cantina.

The duke was easy enough to spot, he was the only prominent Geonosian there. There was also a human female in all sorts of fancy attire, a younger male and female human, a male sulistan, a gand, and a toydarian. We introduced ourselves to Pittock, and he came to chat with us soon enough. Hussk and Doc went with him into a private alcove. Oz wouldn’t let me go along. I sat at the table and took in the atmosphere. Vaxana wandered about the room, she talked briefly with the pair of humans. Turns out they’re freetraders from Coruscant. Vaxana convinced them that we were boring.

After Hussk and Doc came back, they said it didn’t go perfectly, but they probably got what we needed. Hussk went to chat up the fancy lady and I was bored so I tagged along. Oz followed me. Turns out she’s researching the Geonosian social structure… and didn’t seem all that interested in talking to us. So me ‘n Oz went to talk some shop with the freetraders. Their names are Wex and Orpa, and they fly the ’Lucky Guess’ a Nova Courier. Between the two of us, we got them to confess that they were running some cargo over to Teemo in the morning, but they’re not big fans of working for him. Also, Wex suggested a hyperdrive upgrade to the Pintotl.

It seems Hussk tried again to talk to the fancy lady without our help this time. I don’t think it went very well (how could it? We weren’t there to help.) He made some fairly rude comments loud enough for all to hear and then headed back to the ship. I got a drink to go and followed, everyone else left as well.

We got back to the ship and the guns Hussk and Doc had ordered for Myn’s group and the company were waiting with a merchant. He took our food as well, but he didn’t look all that excited about it. Othar called and checked in to see how things went, and we filled him in. He said there is a ship heading for Teemo’s in the morning and depending on how things go with Dimoc, we might be able to hitch a ride and give a big surprise to Ol’ Teemo himself.

Mining on Ryloth

I’m beginning to like Teemo less and less, and he didn’t start off very high. After our narrow escape from the Empire, we had a lot to do around the ship. I found the closest place to repair and refuel, Ryloth the Twi’lek homeworld. Oz shut down that periodic transmission, but it sent out a burst transmission as he did so. After that was done, Oz, Vaxna and I checked out the ship to see what the horrible Teemo had done to it. Doc Lamarto and Valayne talked with Trex’s Twi’lek prisoner. He didn’t like Hussk around, so Hussk worked on that smell that was permeating the ship.

The ship was a horrible mess, entire chunks had been replace and rewired! They changed out the entire computer core! It looks like they were even running cables to install a second gun turret, but not very well according to Oz. Oz was getting distracted by all the alterations and damage that Vaxna and I split up to finish checking out the ship. We found more damage and lots of extra stuff strewn about. Vaxna found the one escape pod change into a workshop with lots of parts and notably, droid parts. Oz suspects that with a little work, we could make an astromech, R2 unit. I found all of my stuff cleared out of my room! Trex had dumped my whole fleet in a box labled ‘junk’ in the cargo bay! He’d replaced it with a nasty Wampa skin rug. I chucked it outside, I think Hussk claimed it.

The Twi’lek turns out to need our help past just a rescue from Trex the vandalizing jerk. He’s part of a mining operation on Ryloth and just for rescuing us he can offer repairs and refueling for Pintotl; but if our organization would help out with a problem they have he is sure a deal could be worked out. Doc is our company man, he gave the Twi’lek a mostly clean bill of health and a promise to contact the organization one we landed and got some more details.

We set off to Ryloth, and after scanning for any Imperial presence, I landed where our Twi’lek directed me. His crew began checking out our ship with Oz ‘n me keeping an eye on them. Doc and Valyene went to call HQ while Vaxna and Hussk went to sell the sundries that Trex had left in our cargo bays (6000 credits!). We regrouped and went to talk to the mining coalition. We met with a woman who is leading the group. She said that someone had bought up all the land around the mining claim under the guise of ’developing’ it, but nothing was ever done. Well, nothing along those lines. They got plenty of harassment and unexplained accidents. Doc took the deal provisionally and she asked us to run our Twi’lek friend out to the mine to get their moral back up. We broke for the night while they rounded up a speeder truck.

In morning we hopped in the speeder truck and headed towards the mine. It was a nice machine… other than the annoying autopilot that make the first part of the trip boring as anything. Thankfully once we got outside the city a little ways things got more interesting. I got to take over and weave that truck through the rocks. That was great! Until someone shot us and spun out of control, that was awesome! I pulled it through two full 360° spins before gently settling it safely into a sandbank. The front was smoking a bit, but Oz shouldn’t have any problem fixing it.

As the dust settled, a few figures emerged from a cave in the cliff face. They claimed to be Imperial troops and that we should surrender. Yeah, sure they were… I considered shouting at them that they should be the ones surrendering, but I didn’t get the chance. Hussk, Valyene, and Vaxna were hitting them hard. I only got a shot or two in before they were running away back into the cave with their tails between their legs. We collapsed the cave so they couldn’t bug us for a little while. I helped Oz fix up the truck and we were on our way again.

We drove into the mining camp, I can’t call it a town, and the people there all eyed us uneasily. They were all Twi’lek and brightened visibly when they saw our friend that we were bringing back. We consulted in a big tent that they set up for us to figure out what our next move was going to be when we heard a loud crash from outside. Three drunk men (two humans and an aqualish) had driven a large construction vehicle into one of the tents damaging it and the family’s moisture condenser.

They saw us watching and asked if we had a problem with them, then stated that they were going to take our truck. Hussk answered them with a stun grenade. They fell over. The miners didn’t waste any time in collecting them and their armaments. We had a little debate as to our next course of action while Oz fixed the condenser using the radiator of the construction vehicle. The construction workers had a little pre-fab town about five minutes away by speeder, and they might send reinforcements when this group doesn’t report back. In the end it was getting late and we just decided to get some rest. The miners were keeping watch, so we got a little shut-eye.

I woke up when Hussk blew the horn on the construction vehicle. Apparently the construction boss tried to contact his guys over the radio and Hussk had answered. They were apparently on their way. Valayne whipped some of the miners into shape and we all got into positions. Two more construction vehicles showed up soon enough with a total of nine more guys on them. We waited until they crossed the property line and then Hussk and Valyne disabled their vehicles. The two construction vehicles slammed into each other and all the workers got thrown off, sprawling all across the ground.

It was relatively short work after that. They didn’t put up that much resistance and they were shortly dealt with. Afterwards Hussk made a deal with the remaining workers, help haul their prefab town back to the miner’s camp and we’d haul them back to down and let them go. They revealed they had been hired by that jerk Teemo to harass the miners for a decent amount of money. Oz was able to crack their boss’ computer and find two messages that sounded fairly ominous.
